Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Bee.
For most of you, we met for the first time a couple of years ago. For some of you, we just met. Either way, I owe you an apology.
I’ve been holding back on you and I’m so sorry. See, I used to be afraid to give you all the raw and unfiltered me. I was so scared to let ya’ll in because I had been hurt so much after being transparent — oftentimes by the very people I thought were in my corner. People have a tendency to take your story and turn it into the latest tea. The very thought of that made me guarded to the point where I stopped giving you all the real me.
After some soul-searching and finding my voice again, I’m back for real and ready to share my life unfiltered with you all. So many things have happened since I started and now — and I literally can’t wait to catch you up. While I was on the journey to find my voice again, I learned some valuable lessons that I want to share with you.
Your Story Is Not For You
As someone with influence, I have a responsibility to use my voice when it matters most — which includes when I’m speaking with you. We all go through things in life. The thing is, we aren’t the only ones and there is always someone that can use your story. Tell your story sis. You will change someone’s life!
Everything Isn’t For Everybody
This might seem like it is going to contradict my point above but hear me out.
Everybody isn’t going to receive what you have to say — and that’s okay. Everything isn’t for everyone! However, that doesn’t mean that you stop speaking just because one person didn’t receive it the way you hoped. The people who need your message will receive it. Don’t worry about the folks that don’t!
Don’t Sit On Your Gifts
While navigating life during the ‘rona, I’ve learned so much about the gifts I’ve been blessed with. In addition to having a voice that commands attention, there are skills I have that I viewed as minor things that are actually a big deal! I’m a great content creator, I’m pretty artistic, I have an eye for photography, and I make a cloth face mask that will make folks stop and stare. I used to downplay these things because to me, they were just “things I do”. However, they are so much more than that. I’m sure there are gifts you’re sitting on because they are “no big deal” to you. Just because they’re no big deal to you doesn’t mean they are no big deal to someone else. Stop sitting on your gifts!!!!
So, allow me to reintroduce myself —
My name is Bee. I’m a wife, mom of 3, and a boss in every aspect. It is my pleasure to meet you [again] and I look forward to sharing more with you!
